Shawni Ence will be starting her second year at Dixie Montessori Academy as part of the 6-9 teaching staff. She has spent the last two years studying the Montessori philosophy and says it has changed her entire outlook on life and its future in the hands of our children.
Mrs. Ence has been married to her husband for nine years and has one child, Bryntlee, who will be nine years old in November. She has spent the majority of her life in southern Utah where her family loves to spend time camping, going to the lake and hiking in Zion. She and her family also enjoy traveling when they get the chance.
Shawni believes that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is her desire as an educator to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe and also supports risk-taking and invites a sharing of ideas.
She has had the opportunity to be mentored and instructed by master teachers and has strong passion for teaching that gives her the desire to go above and beyond. She says, "I am not looking to be just another good teacher, I will strive to be an extraordinary teacher."
