Peter D. Burnes is a Special Education teacher at the DMA. He has 7 years’ experience in public education. The last 6 years he has been teaching 3rd through 8th grade students with Autism Spectrum Disorder in the Clark County Nevada School District.
Mr. Burnes holds Master’s Degrees from UNLV in Special Education with endorsements in Autism, Resource, and Mild to Moderate Disabilities. He also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, from BYU and a Master’s in Business Administration from UNLV.
Mr. Burnes doesn’t believe there is such a thing as a student who does not want to learn. He sees Special Education’s mission as one to assist in student’s mastering academic, functional and social skills, and concepts suitable to their unique levels of understanding by using direct instruction, manipulatives, modeling, and immediate constructive feedback.
